West Texas 3D owners Riley Cogdell and Kip Kothmann have a combined experience of almost 2 decades in additive manufacturing. Both Kip and Riley grew up in the panhandle and received their undergraduate degrees in mechanical engineering from Texas Tech University. After a brief time in central Texas working as technicians on capital additive manufacturing equipment, they returned to their roots of west Texas to bring Advanced Manufacturing to the Lubbock area.
Meet Our Team
Riley Cogdell

Co Owner – President
Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering
Masters of Science in Additive Manufacturing
BIO:
Riley grew up in a small panhandle town in a ranching family. After high school, he attended Texas Tech University where he received his degree in mechanical engineering. He began working with 3D printers during his years at Tech and that is where he found his passion. After graduation, he went into the work force as a service technician and applications engineer which allowed him to really learn the technology and experience firsthand the benefits of additive manufacturing in the manufacturing market. Riley also attended Penn State University during this time where he earned his Masters in Additive Manufacturing and Design with a focus on advanced materials.
Kip Kothmann

Co Owner – Vice President
Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering
BIO:
Kip is both the more intelligent and better looking of the two owners. A native to the Lubbock area, he began working with 3D printers and building his own while still in high school at Lubbock-Cooper. After high school he attended Texas Tech University and received his bachelors degree in mechanical engineering but did not immediately go into the additive manufacturing field, instead working for a few years in road side safety equipment. Kip later saw an opportunity to pursue the growing market of additive manufacturing and found a job doing everything from service work to CAD design and application consulting with a focus on 3D printable parts.
